Overview
The Safe Load OEM Gooseneck Ball is a 2-5/16” tow ball crafted from high-strength stainless steel and designed with a built-in scale for safer towing. It features a single gauge and is fully compatible with all major OEM puck systems, including Ford, Ram, Nissan, Toyota, GMC, and Chevy.
The Only Gooseneck Hitch with a Built-In Scale
The Safe Load OEM Gooseneck is the only gooseneck hitch on the market with an integrated scale, giving you real-time insight into your load. This allows you to make adjustments before hitting the road—helping ensure a safer, smoother, and more controlled towing experience.
Say Goodbye to Guesswork
Before this innovation, measuring tongue weight or pin load was inconvenient and often inaccurate. Common methods included:
- Using unreliable bathroom scales
- Driving to a weigh station
- Purchasing separate tongue weight scale systems
With the Weigh Safe built-in scale, all of that is eliminated. You can now measure your load instantly during your normal hitching process—no extra steps required.
How the Built-In Scale Works
Using the Safe Load OEM Gooseneck Ball is simple and seamless:
- Hook up your trailer as you normally would
- The trailer’s weight presses down on the gooseneck ball
- This force activates an internal hydraulic piston
- The piston compresses into an oil-filled chamber
- Pressure is measured and displayed on the integrated gauge
This system delivers accurate, real-time tongue weight readings without any additional tools.
What Is Tongue Weight (and Why It Matters)?
Tongue weight (TW)—also known as pin load—is the downward force your fully loaded trailer places on your tow vehicle’s hitch.
Proper tongue weight is critical for:
- Maintaining vehicle control and stability
- Preventing trailer sway
- Reducing wear on towing components
- Ensuring safe braking and handling
Recommended Tongue Weight Guidelines
- Ideal tongue weight: ~15% of total trailer weight
- Maximum tongue weight: should not exceed 25%
Example:
A 10,000 lb trailer should have a tongue weight between 1,500 lbs and 2,500 lbs
How to Adjust Tongue Weight
If your tongue weight is too high or too low, you can adjust it by:
- Redistributing cargo within the trailer
- Adding or removing weight
- Balancing the load more evenly
